Farts Aren’t Embarrassing

Upon reading that title, you might be wondering what the heck I have in store for you. It’s not very common to go around talking about *ssshhhh* farts *ssshhhh* just cause. I must have a reason. Of course I have a reason. A very important one at that.

Well, sorta.

I know of all us have been in the situation (whether you say or not) where a build up of high pressure air needs to be released. If you’re by yourself or with friends/family who don’t care, then firing away is quite easy. Other times, it may be necessary to leave the room and visit the bathroom/restroom. No problems, right. But what about those situations where getting away isn’t so easy? Or the times when a surprise attack occurs with no warning?

A Haircut

Now, this isn’t my first time getting a haircut in Japan. I got one way back in August, well, I think it was August. Anyways, the way the first was quite ordinary and similar in style as to the service I receive back home.

About 3 weeks ago, we had a small gathering of people over celebrating the past season of snorkeling at our local pool. It was a wonderful time. Endless amounts of food, drink, and desserts were laid out across 3 tables for everyone to delight in. Someone that came near the end of the night was fellow Canadian who in fact teaches English to the neighbours every Monday afternoon. I made mention that a haircut was in order for my head fairly soon and he went on to ask if I had gotten a haircut since arriving in Japan. I said “yes”. His response kinda threw me off a little. He replied with something similar like “quite the experience, eh?” I immediately thought of my first haircut, which I mentioned was normal, and replied, “yah, crazy for sure!” I had no freaking idea to what he was referring to as “quite the experience” but I just went along with what he said. I obviously missed out on something my first go around.

So today, I finally made the effort to cut my long (for me it was) hair and made sure to find a place that would give me “quite the experience.”

A Special Guest: Kota

You’ve most likely seen this guy in a few photos scattered around the blog. He is the oldest (12) of the three children in his family. Kota is in Grade 6, loves to play tennis, hang out with his family and friends, and oh yah, did I mention he likes video games? We get along very well even with the lack of proper verbal communication. I have had a ton of fun hanging out with not only him, but his brothers as well. I’ll definitely miss these guys when I return home.

If for some reason you’re having trouble picturing Kota, here is a recent photo I took of him. The glasses were just for fun.

Some Coolness For You

I was out gazing the shops the other day and found a few things that caught my eye. I didn’t buy anything mind you, but was trying to figure out some Christmas present ideas for the neighbours. Shopping for kids is easy. But I have no idea on what to get any of the adults. If anyone has some “safe” gift ideas, please leave a comment. Any help would be appreciated. I really suck at buying gifts.

This first picture is not that crazy. But I did notice upon further inspection that the company thought it would be great to classify the color of gum (orange) as being Blood in color. Funny? No. Didn’t think so. Gosh darn it.

*Update* I’ve been informed that “Blood Orange” is an actual type of Orange. I had no idea. So, nothing to see here folks. Move on. Move on. My bad.

+1 Powerup -> Elixir

Ever wonder what video game characters drink when they are not busy being controlled by you and forced to conquer evil monsters and villains?

I know I have. Countless times.

Well, Suntory, a large beverage marker in Japan, has teamed up with Square Enix to create the ultimate gaming beverage. The Final Fantasy XIII ELIXIR was released earlier today for all video game nerds to enjoy and delight in. But most importantly, ELIXIR provides insight into what our beloved characters would find delicious and appealing.

Carnival Colors – Vibrant Blue

Sorry I haven’t written anything for a week or so no. To say that I’ve been busy would be a lie. I haven’t been doing anything crazy lately to warrant not writing a post sooner. Guess I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly to write about these last couple of days. I still can’t come up with anything so I’ll just give you a little bit of an update.

As of right now, it looks like I’ll be heading home at the end of January. I am not coming home for any bad reason in regards to Japan, but I just feel that it is time to head back. I’m looking forward to finding a job and beginning a new chapter in my life. I’m definitely going to enroll in a Japanese class or two once I get back to make sure everything I have studied here doesn’t go to waste. I plan on coming back in future (when? not sure, but I’ll be back for sure) so I am motivated to reach a level where I will be able to communicate freely and easily. It’ll be a long road, but I’m excited for sure. My end goal is to actually work in Japan in a field related to my studies.

In saying that Japan is where I like to end up, it’s definitely not a Japan or Bust mentality. Canada will obviously always be my home, so to stay there and find a great career would be more than a blessing for sure. Also, because I have devoted so much time to learning French (my love/hate relationship with that language started in Grade 4), I’d also love to pursue something in Quebec or France if given the opportunity.

Everything here seem like long-term goals in terms of where I want to end up, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing. At least I have some sort of direction but I need to figure out how exactly I’ll obtain such places. It’ll come, it’ll come.

Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters – Parade Edition

Sorry for the delay on this post. I’m such a popular guy that it is hard to hang out with the neighbours/friends and write a new blog post at the same time. Yesterday I had plenty of time, but I felt like studying instead. n_n I also attended a small concert last night as well, but I’ll brief you in about that sometime later.

Today, the focus is on the wicked awesome crazy short parade that was the Hokkaido Hippon-Ham Fighters. If you recall for awhile ago, I mentioned I watched the final game that included the Fighters and their opponent, the Giants. But the Fighters lost, so why would they have a parade? No idea. I suppose 2nd place is meaningful enough to host something as big (cough*small*cough) as this. I’m thinking the parade was more of a fan appreciation event. Either way, I wanted to be there. I had no expectations and was curious to see if it would be a full, blown out parade or a small, tiny shindig.

Quickity Quick Quick

So, you’re thinking this is going to be related to that parade I mentioned last post. Well, you’d be wrong to do so. I’m be putting that one up tomorrow. So there!

I just wanted to say that I’m drinking a good ‘ol classic Canadian drink, Canada Dry Ginger Ale. Nothing cures the homesickness like a nice cold glass of the goldish bubbly. Not saying I’m homesick at all, cause, well, I ain’t. I’m doing just fine, but if I was, I know that this would do the trick.
